Illinois at the forefront of meeting the needs of the youngest English Learners

Illinois policy reflects the growing body of research indicating that our youngest English learners (ELs) benefit from language programming in preschool and pre-kindergarten.  Working with ELs before kindergarten presents educators with unique opportunities in meeting the needs of our youngest ELs.  The session will also explore the current state of policy in practice, how schools and districts are meeting the mandates, and challenges and obstacles to meeting the policy requirements.
