Play is the foundation of implementing curriculum, instruction and assessment throughout any Early Childhood Education and Care learning environment. It is a reflection of children’s cognitive abilities and how they actively learn about the world around them. Yet play-based learning is often defined in a variety of ways from classroom to classroom, building to building and program to program. This interactive Administrators Forum will provide participants with an equitable definition and guide to high-quality play-based learning that balances adult-directed and student-initiated instructional techniques and strategies for all students including students who are multilingual learners and students with disabilities.
