Look at objects around you and count how many. Find numbers in unique places.
At Home
If you have 3 minutes
- Look for numbers around you. Places to find numbers: cereal boxes, laundry detergent, pages in books, on the phone, on your mail, on your door, recipes, elevators, television and remote, on your toothpaste, shampoo, clocks, microwave and ovens, DVD player, magnetic numbers on the refrigerator, calculators and computers.
If you have more time
- Play or make board and card games such as Go Fish, Dominoes, Memory with number cards, number puzzles, decks of playing cards for games such as war (if you are not familiar with or need a reminder of rules for such games, they can be found on the internet or in books at the library).
On the Go
If you have 3 minutes
- Look for numbers on price tags, signs (street signs, speed limits, bank signs), billboards, addresses, license plates, radio, magnetic numbers on a cookie sheet.
- Play the game....Can you find a number? Ask your child to find specific numbers, for example Can you find a 2?
